Look for the ChatWall Logo inside the chat input
(top-right).
Click it to open the Secure
Overlay.
Type your text there. It will be anonymized (e.g.
[email protected] ->[EMAIL_1]) before sending to the AI. For more manual masking see section
3. below.
Click send to AI Prompt button.
Then submit your (masked) prompt to AI as usual.
🔧2. Custom Selection Masking
If ChatWall misses something, or masks too much:
Select the text you want to modify.Use the Top Toolbar Icons (Mask /
Unmask): MaskUnmask
Or select Top Toolbar Icons in painting
mode and select text : Mask PainterUnmask Painter
Or Right-Click the selection to mask manually.
🔓3. How to Unmask (Reading)
The AI sees only tokens, but you see the real data.
Floating Icon:When an AI response has masked content, this icon
appears, click it to unmask and view response

Unmask (Preview): View original text.
Unmask & Copy: Copy clean text to
clipboard.
Select Text:Select the masked text to reveal the unmask

⭐4. Custom Favorites
Teach ChatWall your specific terminology:
Select common private content in your prompt (project name,
signature, address ...)
Right-click and select Add to
Favorites.
ChatWall will automatically mask this exact content in
future chats.

Are you
reading my data?
No. All
processing happens locally in your browser. We are fully transparent—you can audit our code on GitHub to verify that we do not read,
store, or transmit your private chat logs.
Why are
some tokens not unmasked?
ChatWall is
designed for maximum privacy and does not persist your sensitive data permanently. Keys are stored in
your active session, meaning old conversations cannot be unmasked once the session mapping is
cleared or lost. This ensures your data doesn't linger.
Why are
some names or data not detected?
ChatWall acts as
a privacy assistant using advanced detection, but it is not infallible. If sensitive data is missed, you
can Mask Manually (right-click) or add the term to your Favorites to ensure ChatWall
learns to catch it every time.
